IS LOVE

Who God is

 

Before there was anything else, there was God.

 

Father, Son and Spirit — eternally giving, receiving and delighting in love.

 

God does not simply do loving things.

 

God is love.

 

This changes where we begin.

 

We don’t begin with our failure, our sin, our questions or our fear.

 

We begin with God.

 

And if God is love, then love is not merely one of His characteristics.

 

Love is at the very heart of who He is.

 

Jesus comes to reveal this God to us — not a distant deity to be appeased, but the Father who desires communion with His children.

 

“Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.”

 

Jesus is the clearest picture we have of what God is like.

 

And what we see in Jesus is self-giving love.
