THE
BLOOD

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.”
— Mark 14:24
Life given
Throughout Scripture, blood carries a profound meaning.
“The life of a creature is in the blood.”
Blood speaks of life.
Covenant.
Cleansing.
Deliverance.
A life given.
At the Last Supper, Jesus takes the cup and speaks of His blood as the blood of the covenant.
He is not merely predicting His death.
He is giving Himself.
The covenant God has been making throughout the story of Scripture reaches its fulfilment in Jesus.
God binds Himself to humanity.
The blood of Christ becomes a sign of the extraordinary truth that God gives His own life to bring us back into communion with Him.
The Cross is not God abandoning us to our sin.
It is God entering our brokenness and giving Himself for our restoration.
